The Home Movies of Noël Coward - Clip 9:Travel

Travel was so important to Noël that it dominated much of his writing. His only novel, some of his musicals, short stories and plays were full of Samolan adventures. Samola was a fictional island and a bastion of the British Empire where the cultural differences between native and colonial populations and the internecine struggles between the colonists themselves were explored for the sake of comedy. This clip shows Gertrude Lawrence and Gladys Calthrop with Noël in an exotic clime somewhere in the World! The music is one of the most popular pieces from Sail Away, 'Why do the wrong people travel?.'
